A new jazz connection:

In march of the year 1999 jazz legend saxophoneplayer Teddy Edwards recorded a new CD in Los Angeles introducing Dutch trumpetplayer SaskiaLaroo to the American jazz lovers, produced by HER independent label Laroo Records with a repertoire of jazz standards and originals from both Mr. Edwards and Ms Laroo.

The cd, recorded in Los Angeles is called Sunset Eyes 2000, and takes us through cool grooving standards, and newly arranged original compositions of Teddy Edwards. Saskia and (the 75 year old!) Teddy Edwards are joined by important names of the American Jazzscene :Art Hillary on piano, Wendell Williams on bass, and Gerryck King on drums. Vocalist Ernie Andrews brings 2 compositions of Mr Edwards: the bluestrack "Don_t touch me" and the wellknown "Sunset Eyes", that has been recorded for the first time more then 50 years ago by Teddy with the legendary Clifford Brown/Max Roach Quartet.

The Cd presentation in Europe took place at the North Sea Jazz festival, July 1999 (Netherlands). Teddy Edwards flew specially to Holland for this event ! More performances in USA and Europe are "in the can" .
